In a Yoruba community under British colonial rule, a corrupt king has turned his people into forced labourers on their own cocoa farms. When the land grabs intensify and her people lose everything, Adunni, a lawyer trained in the colonial system, turns that system against itself. Beside her: Romoke, a widow whose husband was killed on the king's orders, and Abegbe, a fighter with nothing left to lose. Their resistance costs all three women more than they planned to give.
